The belted waistline enhances your slim waist while the full skirt flows over your wider hips and bottom. The final result is the hourglass shape. Simple.
Your shoulders and chest are wider than your lower body, so you have to create the illusion of a narrower top while widening your lower half. This dress does this very well.
The straps are cut close to the neck so that it has a narrowing effect on the shoulders.
