I hope that you all enjoyed Christmas and had a good time with your family and friends.
Tis’ the season for the sales. Apparently, £4.3 billion were spent by people over the 26th and 27th December in the UK. This is the equivalent of £77,000 a second! Oh la la! That is
enough to make your head spin.
If you have been watching the news, you will have noticed the sheer number of people swarming the shops for bargains galore. Hordes of people queueing for hours in the cold, in order to fight among themselves for a few jumpers. Is the solution to shop online instead?
I would say to you all, do not despair, there are bargains to be had, but keep your wits about you. Do not join this crowd of desperados. Being chic and elegant means not fighting other people over a handbag. We are not desperate.
Take your time.
Buy only items that you know you will wear, not once, but many times. Try things on and be highly critical. Some shops will not give a refund for sales items, so beware.
What is important is not how much the piece is discounted but how much this piece is worth to you. What is the point of buying a designer dress that will end up languishing in your wardrobe, never worn? Wear what you have and replace only with great items of good quality and style. Invest good money only in classic clothes and accessories that will go with the rest of your wardrobe.
If you wish to buy into trends, I would recommend buying cheap items that can be discarded next season. By discarding, I hope that you would donate, either to family/ friends or charity shops, not throw away.
Enjoy your bargain-hunting and the rest of the Christmas season!
