You may have already noticed that I do things a bit differently to most people who have a style blog.
If I only showed you photos of me in various outfits, it would not help you to dress for your own shape, size or height, unless you are a small-busted 5'8" rectangle like me.
Now and again, I may show you a dress or a top that I'm wearing. As a matter of fact, I do this in my ecourse videos and for The French Chic Academy, but only when it is called for.
What I do in this blog and in my French Chic group is show you an item and explain what this item will do to the body, which body shape it would suit, which body shape should avoid it and I give you the reasons why.
I do this because I believe that women deserve to know how to dress well. Only showing you an image of me in a nice outfit is not going to help you one jot on how to dress well. If this was the case, you would only have to open pages of magazines and voilà, you would be well dressed too, just by copying these outfits.
But, it doesn't work like that.
I firmly believe in teaching you how to fish instead of giving you only the fish. This way, you can make the right decisions for YOUR shape, YOUR size, YOUR height, YOUR colouring etc.
This is why my French Chic Academy is so powerful and yielding such great results. Members are reporting a drastic change in their style, their shopping habits and their confidence. And they've only got through the foundation so far. The foundation is the first step to learn.
So, what is the foundation you need to work on for French Chic?
- Knowing your body shape
- Knowing what to wear for your shape and why
Disregarding your body shape (and size and height) is akin to going to a clothes shop blind-folded.
So, work on your foundation first.
- Get measured for a bra that fits correctly. It will lift up your bust, lengthen your torso, give you a waist and make you look younger in the process.
- Wear pants/knickers that fit and keep your stomach and bottom in.
- Wear shapewear that flattens your tummy and tames other parts of your body. This will give a smooth outline to your clothes. (Of course, shapewear is not for everyone. In hot climates for instance, it is far too hot to even think about it.)
