The 86th Awards Ceremony was held yesterday at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The stellar attendance on the red carpet provided much glamour. Although there were many beautifully dressed actresses, I picked out five who, in my mind, were a cut above the rest.
So let's have a look at my own nominations:
First, congratulations to gorgeous Lupita Nyong'o for winning the oscar for best Actress in a Supporting role in 12 Years a Slave.
Second, congratulations again, this time for looking splendid in this powder blue gown by Prada. She shows the same exquisite taste that she did at the BAFTAs. She deserves a style encore from us.
Can Oscar nominee Amy Adams ever put a foot wrong at any red carpet events?
I don't think so. So there she was again, looking flawlessly elegant in this divine midnight blue gown by Gucci Couture. A glamour fest for the eyes and without the help of any diamantés and paillettes in sight. The gold statuette would have been the perfect accessory to her look.
Sandra Bullock looked amazing in this Alexander McQueen dark blue gown, with minimal accessories. She does not always get it right , but this dress was a resounding success at the Oscar Ceremony. Ms Bullock should keep to this style of gown which shows off her great figure, from now on.
Anne Hathaway knows how to accentuate her height and lean figure. In this black and silver sequins column gown by Gucci, she looked superb. Her pixie crop suits her bone structure too. The overall look was a total success.
Jada Pinkett-Smith wore this pale pink dress by Versace. I like the way the dress wraps her statuesque figure, giving special attention to her bust and waist, reminiscent of the old Hollywood glamour. She belongs to this best-dressed list.
That is it, my 5 best dressed stars of the Oscars night. You must be wondering why I left Jennifer Lawrence off this list, right? Well, I would have included the sweet Jennifer if her Dior gown didn't have this unsightly, and totally unnecessary, frill around her hips. I think that this extra add-on spoiled the lean look of the gown. Quel dommage.
