All of my readers who, by now, know me well, will vouch for my campaign for all things simple. Simplicity is the key to all things chic and elegant. Keep this in mind and you cannot put a foot wrong.
By simplicity though, I don't mean minimalism. A bit of adornment and detailing are always welcome. Bright bold buttons on a coat, a statement necklace, or exquisitely pleated fabric on an evening gown are what make an outfit pop. However, you have to know when to stop. A little goes a long way in style.
It is with simplicity in mind that I chose the below outfit: White shirt and jeans. It's like going back to basics, isn't it? This look is timeless and classic, think Marilyn Monroe in The Misfits.
This look is perfect for every woman and every size. You just have to adjust the style of jeans and the cut of the shirt. To remain truly elegant, stay away from ripped jeans, trainers and slouchy boots.
What I truly like with this look is that you can go wild with your shoes. I chose crimson high heels today but you could wear ballet flats, high heels, booties, platforms, wedges or sandals in any colour and style. The shoes will define the look and make it your own.
If this look was good enough for Marilyn and Hollywood, it's good enough for us, non?
