There is nothing like bright colours to cheer everybody up. This is definitely what we all need right now as Spring is a little late in making an appearance. The trend of the moment, let’s rejoice, is colour blocking. I know, I know, this may be worrying for some of you who
do not feel like experimenting. And what about making expensive mistakes?
As one who likes to err on the side of caution myself, I shall give you a few tips on wearing colour without looking like a parrot.
1/ Readers of How to be Chic & Elegant will know that, to be on the safe side, you should not wear more than three colours at the same time. Even then, it might feel too avant-garde for many. I am not sure that this colourblocking trend will be embraced by many in France. The French prefer classic and neutral colours, as we know.
2/ Start by introducing only one bright amongst your neutrals. As you feel more confident, add one or two more colours to your outfits, as per the board below.
3/ Be careful of some colour combinations. For instance, red, green and gold might look a little too Christmassy :0)
4/ Wear the brightest colours to emphasize your best features. Stick to darker hues on the areas of your body you want best left to the imagination.
5/ If you wish to embrace colour-blocking, why not stick to two brights and one neutral? This will be kinder to they eye and prove to have less room for error.
For pear shapes, wearing a skirt or pair of trousers in navy will look more flattering than in bright yellow. Keep the bright colours for your torso instead.
If you are a plus size, read my recommendations according to your shape here.
5/ Finally, in order to embrace this trend without going over the top, why not stick to bright accessories instead? This will be easier to coordinate with your outfit, without breaking the bank.
