Time and tide wait for no-one. You must have heard this saying many times. But have you noticed how this rings truer the older you get? One day we are eternal and the next we start worrying about the state of our pension!
Oh dear! What happened? Time happened. Time is quite sneaky, you see. We catch up only when we stop to look in the mirror. Maybe we shouldn't stop, right? Anyway, I am not here to make you cry but to raise your spirits. Just in case you hadn't noticed, your style may be starting to look a little passé and somewhat stuffy.
So, here are three chic ways to help you look up to 10 years younger:
No.1. Bust up!
There are things that we can't escape. Gravity is one of those things, which will pull down your bust in the blink of an eye, if you're not careful. I always, but always, advise wearing bras in the correct size for your bust. I also recommend that you get measured regularly as our busts can and do change over the years. If you keep a watchful eye on your bust and bras, you will avoid your bust from drooping, either due to gravity alone or because your bra is not supportive enough.
Do you know why I mention busts and bras on ways to look younger? Because a pert bust is synonymous with youth. A droopy bust typical of old age.
I assure you, once your bust is lifted up and well supported in a bra that fits you as it should, your silhouette will transform. Your outline will become that of a much younger woman.
No.2. Raise up!
I generally recommend older women not to wear micro skirts. So the next way to visually lower your age is going to sound unusual coming from me. Today I advise you to raise your hemlines. Not up to your armpits, of course not. Raise up your hemline from a midi length up to your knees. That is all. This simple trick will revitalise your style. You see, midi skirts and dresses are all very well when you are young and can pair them with high heels. However, as you get older, you get tired in high heels all day long so you tend to prefer low or flat heels. This is when trouble starts: a midi length (which is not the most flattering, let's be honest) worn with flat or low heels will likely make you look matronly.
So, opt instead for just above the knee or just below the knee. These few inches will make all the difference. Then, if you wish to wear low or flat heels, go ahead. It's ok.
No.3 . Stripe up!
This way is one of my favourites. As a French woman, I can't tell you how much we love striped clothes and accessories in France. Vests, T shirts, tops, shirts, sweaters, jackets, skirts, dresses, scarves, wooly hats, swimwear, you name it we have it striped. And do you know one benefit of stripes? They bring some welcome zest to us and our style. They freshen up an outfit faster than you can say fountain of youth! If you don't wear stripes already, try them. A striped top or dress will freshen up your style, your outfit and you!
