We all know the benefits of a faithful mirror, whatever its size. However, time won't be wasted in showing you the necessity, along with the benefits, of a full-length mirror.
For our simple Tuesday tip, here are the benefits you will get from your full-length mirror:
- The main difference between a full-length and a small-size mirror is not its size but its effect on your style. If you use only the bathroom mirror or similar, you will only be able to see your top half. The lower part of your outfit may not match the top part but you won't be aware of this. A full-length mirror will show you your whole ensemble.
- Always have a last look at yourself, from top to toe before stepping out of your front door. You can check the last accessories you put on just before leaving. The handbag you always use may not be the right one for your outfit today. Those shoes may be the wrong colour or heel height. Or the hat, or jacket or coat may not be the right choice. Your ensemble may have looked great in the bedroom. However, now that you've added the last finishing touches, things may have gone wrong. Adjust accordingly. - A full-length mirror will show you if your outfit is 'too much'. Clothes and accessories may clash style-wise. Two or three things are screaming for attention instead of only one statement necklace or shoes for examples. Time to remove the offending piece. Coco Chanel always removed one last piece of jewellery before stepping out. Surely, La Grande Dame of Fashion couldn't have been wrong? - Enjoy and love your mirror, not just its reflection. Choosing an extravagant piece will make you "stop and stare". And that's exactly what I want you to do. So, if you haven't got a full length mirror yet, come on, plan a shopping trip and get one. You can either buy one new or visit an antique shop or market for something special. Mine is a mirrored door from an large, antique wardrobe. Once you have this amazing item, you'll wonder how on earth you managed without it.
