What NOT to Wear and Why: Leggings (Warning: Tough Love!)

30/5/2016

Comments

If there is one item of clothing that is guaranteed to make my Gallic blood boil it's leggings! You must DITCH your leggings today, right now, in order to upgrade your look (and save my sanity!).

One question, if you are following my blog on French Chic: Why are you still wearing leggings?

Yes, I'm going to be blunt with you today.
I will do this out of love.
Tough love.

Sometimes, we don't realise the rut we are in and the softly-softly approach has not worked. So, today, I have this tough love post for you. And it comes with a warning:
If you are a sensitive soul, I apologise. Please look away now. This may be painful. Yes, the truth hurts.

As an aside, especially for those quite new to my blog, I wish to remind you that this blog is called How to be Chic and Elegant, so I think that you expect me to empower you to upgrade your style, not downgrade. So, with this in mind, let's carry on.

If you are really, truly serious about upgrading your style, whether you wish to socialise more, meet a new partner or look more professional (I pray that you don't wear leggings for work, please tell me you don't!), then please, ditch this offending article..

Come on, you know it, I know it, everybody else knows it: at the very best, they are a (sorry but I can't bring myself to say 'glorified") pair of tights / pantyhose.

Leggings haven't got one, single redeeming feature. And I'm sorry, but an elasticated waistband is NOT A redeeming feature! Please.

The reasons why I detest them are:

- If you have slim legs, even they will look like sausages
- If you have bigger legs and thighs, they will look even dumpier
- They leave nothing to the imagination, from the front or the back (sorry to be so blunt)
- They show your cellulite through the fabric (yep!)
- They make you look short
- They make you look wide
- They make you want to wear trainers!
- They are a lazy way of dressing, such as "I can't be bothered about my appearance so I'll throw these dreadful things on"

My question to you is, why would you do this to yourself?

My passion in life is to empower women to upgrade and live a happier, more successful life. I love all my readers and clients. This is why I only want the best for you. And leggings are not the best for you.

In closing, I'm going to say that the best place for leggings is in the bin! And be kind, so don't try to give them away: they will be no gift!!!
Do yourself a favour, mon amie. Today, put your leggings in the bin. Merci!

PS. If you are finding excuse after excuse to keep your leggings, enrol in my Excuse Blaster Challenge immediately! (the price is going up soon  :0)  )

A bientôt
